Hey Julian,
I dont think it should make a difference if it is a male or female teacher. Unfortunetly, sometimes it does. I think that is another stereotyp portrayed in society that males are "stronger" or have more or a firm voice that children will listen to. However, I dont think that is always the case there are lots of males, even male teachers who have a calm voice.
Hey Mel,
I agree with you as well. I do not agree nor do i like the stereotype that is put on males, as they are strong, and the ones with the loud voices. however in saying that, these stereotypes are out there, and unfortunitly a lot of people still feel as though they are true.
I agree that this is also a false accusations. Both men and women are capable of teachign any subject. Just because there are more female teachers than malkes, does nto mean that males in any circumstance are underachievers. Boiys are not out of control, the jus thave a different genetic makeup. They do nto need to be 'feminized', they jsu tneed to be udnerstood and believed in. If a teacher believes that they are underacheivers, then they will be. Male teahcers can calm students just as well as a female can. it alls epdends ont ehior philosphy and teachign styles. Some may be more effective than others, but it does nto matter what kind of sex you are.
Hey Juliann,
Im glad you raised such a confrentational issue because this does exist and is an ongoing issue. Its very easy for me to answer the last question you posed as I would disagree. In my experiences, I have seen very soft spoken male teachers and very loud and vivacious women teachers. I could probably debate this issue for a while..I think I'll just leave it at this for now. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
